Get the Human Software Right
In
the era when the technology is evolving, anybody can get the hardware
according to the requirements but the main challenge is to get right
minds at the right time and right place. Like Nandan Nilekani always say
in his interviews, the only advantage he had was that he was present at
the right place with right minds and the right time. Brilliant minds
attract other brilliant minds.
So
the main challenge is to get the trained professionals or subject matter
experts with or without experience; having no experience is more a
mental hurdle than otherwise.
The
main elements to develop a trained professional are team work, exposure
to risks, decision taking ability. These lessons can be taken from
Honeybees, they exhibit best team work; they work in small teams and
whenever a team gets big, they split into small teams. Their approach is
‘too-big-to-fail’ i.e. whenever a team gets large, the inefficiency
increases and thus resulting in under performance.
Another
analogy could be honeybee strategy for decision taking capability. Bees
take decision depending on the output required and the sources
available i.e. they check the capacity of beehive before working too
hard. There is no point in manufacturing honey if they are not going to
use it and also under production can reduce the life saving chances.
When
making big decisions, honeybees discuss among themselves. They have a
strong communication technique through which they take informed
decisions. They use their experience to reiterate their decisions.
Prosperity
of small countries is the best example of importance of skills and not
the manpower. If the attitude of the person is right, no one can stop
him from achieving success. So before using the advanced softwares, an
individual should work on his own software.
