10th Annual Management Day | 2019



Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Bengaluru hosted its 10th Annual Management Day on 9th March, 2019. The Management Day is organized to celebrate the achievements of the students of graduating batch and award them. 
The occasion was graced by the presence of chief guest Mr. Rohit Kapoor, CEO, New Real Estate Business at OYO Hotels and Homes and Mr. Shivakumar, Group Executive Director, Aditya Birla Group.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Director of SIBM Bengaluru Dr. Rajesh Panda. He urged the students to never stop or settle for less, never to become complacent and never stop evolving in life.
Mr. Shivakumar, Keynote Speaker opened his speech by sharing the ABCDEF rule.
A - Attitude
1) Use positive & motivating language.
2) Don't use slangs.
3) Avoid jargons and prefer simplicity.

B - Basics
1) Principles of all businesses remain the same and Fundamentals are very important throughout the career.
2) One can't delegate the basics. We can simplify the most complex things very well if we know our basics well.

C - Courage
1) Have courage to tell the truth.
2) Silence is not an option. Speak up for good things.
3) Push your boundaries. Don't always play too safe.
4) Every situation will give you a choice. Always choose the courageous path.

D- Difference
1) Difference that you create & degree of its impact.
2) Anyone in the hierarchy can make a difference.
3) If it were the last day of your career, what difference have you created?

E - Equality
1) We choose to make a difference in big things, instead choose to make a difference in the smallest things.
2) Time is the biggest resource one can give to anyone in his career.

F - Fun
1) Wherever you go, have fun!
2) Keep your friends and family close. You never know what difference they could make in the latter part of your life.

Mr. Rohit Kapoor’s emphasized on listening with a genuine curiosity and staying connected with the world.
He had the following pointers –
1.     Read books. Only distilled knowledge with a full scope of navigating the black and white. Everything else is nuance.
2.     Walk the streets. How you source your knowledge in today’s world.
3.     Talk to people to understand diverse viewpoints.

This was followed by a Vote of thanks. The outgoing students were appreciated by the Deputy Director, Prof A. Vidyasagar for all the efforts that they had put in and for the laurels that they brought to SIBM, Bengaluru. He emphasized on importance of having commitment and passion towards work.

This was followed by the award ceremony in which students were felicitated for excellence in both the academic and the non - academic arenas. This was accompanied by the appointment of the new Student Council for the session 2019-20.

The student leadership council acts as a bridge between the students and the management. It works towards creating a sense of belongingness and trying to make every individual feel involved in the journey that he/she is a part of at SIBM Bengaluru.
