The sheer volume of information that is gained, almost entirely for free, is part of the draw. As Lifehacker’s Chris Bailey points out, there are just so many talks on so many subjects that it is impossible not to find one that can teach you something. It is about simplified, authentic storytelling, which seems to fit well with its mission of, “Ideas worth spreading”.

2. It is about the Future:
James Cameron had to shelve his movie, Avatar for 8 years because back in 1999, they didn’t have the technology to design a new world like the one James wanted us to see. Despite the fact that we are moving ahead at an unprecedented pace, we still have some visionaries amongst us who can see the future as clearly as a vivid dream. At TEDxSIBMBengaluru 2019, the speakers will paint their vision and version of a future about how they imagine it to be. In those 18 minutes or less, they will give us a glimpse of their perception of the future.

3. A full house of curious minds:
The event is being held on the campus of SIBM Bengaluru, in the institute’s own auditorium. Not only will the students of the college be present for the talks but it will also attract the curious souls from the nearby institutes and corporate offices. TED talks are prestigious events that go to the extent of curating even their audience; they unconditionally attract only the hungry and the anxious minds of the community where the TEDx talks are being held.

4. Achieving Symbiosis:
An education institute spreads knowledge. Through theory and application, it inscribes the past and the present in our minds. However, to shape the future we need to establish a nursery for the youth that focusses on coming up with new ideas and risk taking. Well, this is where TEDx fits in perfectly. In line with TED’s slogan, “Ideas worth spreading”, TEDx talks provide the perfect appendage to augment the knowledge pool of the attendees.

5. Amazing organizers:
TEDx events include a certain X factor that you never see on camera or while sitting back in the auditorium. That ‘x’ factor in TEDx truly are the organizers. TEDx make their events interesting because the Organizers are interesting. They select interesting themes, interesting speakers and interesting audiences. Here at SIBM Bengaluru, we have a brilliant team of college students, pursuing their MBA degree who are putting their heart and soul into this venture to make it a grand success. A force of around 100 young, hardworking and creative students are involved in organizing this event. It’s a highly diverse team that comes together every year and pulls of an amazing show for the audience.  TEDx is a powerful event because their organizers and staff don't do it for the money or the fame - for which there is neither. They do it to make a difference. And people that do things out of passion, do them better.

6. Localized topics:
A TEDx event is organized by volunteers from the local community, and just like TED events, it lacks any commercial, religious or political agenda. Its goal is to spark conversation, connection and community. Talks in a TEDx event are carefully curated. When we call a certain speaker, it’s because he or she has an idea to share with the world. Nobody goes on stage because they partnered with the organizers or for any other similar reason. Just good ideas, intentionally selected, to align with a theme.

7. Venue: Electronic City, Bengaluru:
Spread over 800 acres and with more than 200 IT/ITES companies located here, Electronic City is the IT hub of Bangalore and one of the largest IT/electronic industrial parks in India.
