Mr. Amit Kasliwal opened his speech with a traditional gesture of Namaste and moved on to shed some light on how it is to be a leader and the issues one has to face on the path to glory. He attenuated his point by mentioning that MBA is not about books, books can only give you a sense of direction. MBA is all about learnings outside the classroom. He further added that we should go out and network with as many people as you can. We need mentors all around us.

The next speaker of the day was Mr. Pankaj Dubey. He started off by narrating his journey as a teacher onto becoming the marketing head for a leading firm in just 7 years and from that to become the CEO & Director, Eicher Polaris Pvt. Ltd. He stressed on the importance of dreaming because “Whatever dreams you set in, it’s upto you to achieve them. Whatever you decide, it’ll happen”. He also added saying that failure is not considered to be an end but only as motivation to push further. He revealed his reason for success by saying, “When somebody says that it’s not possible, I would go up and say that I’ll do it. And that’s what has made all the difference.”

The outgoing students were appreciated by the Deputy Director, Prof A. Vidyasagar for all the efforts that they had put in and for the laurels that they brought to SIBM, Bengaluru. He emphasized on importance of having commitment and passion towards work.

This was followed by the award ceremony in which students were felicitated for excellence in both the academic and the non - academic arenas. This was accompanied by the appointment of the new Student Council for the session 2017-18.

Rachna Bansal, the newly appointed Student Vice President said,SIBM Bengaluru has made me learn to take the ownership and responsibility of my work. But the most important lesson I learned was, to remain motivated as there were a plethora of areas to be explored which made me push myself even harder, to achieve the higher benchmark. As time passed by, I became confident in decision making and comfortable with the heavy work load. It fills my heart to say that I got this opportunity to lead the Students Leadership Council. I will try my best to take it to new heights.”

The student leadership council acts as a bridge between the students and the management. It works towards creating a sense of belongingness and trying to make every individual feel involved in the journey that he/she is a part of at SIBM Bengaluru.
